In his last year at university Thomas and his colleague Adam were invited to exhibit some sculptures at the Royal Norfolk Show Ground. Following the show, the director of the showground approached Thomas about developing a design for a possible water feature she was interested in commissioning for a pool at the front of the showgrounds main pavilion. The commission never want through, but the design Thomas developed, was the genesis for his Vortex designs, with a series of rings rotating around a central column.
Eventually in 2011, Thomas revisited the design and decided to make the actual water feature which he named Resonance. The main concept of the design is for water to be fed up to the top tier and then cascade down and around the spiraling form.
In 2018 Thomas’s Resonance was featured in the Financial Time’s ‘How To Spend It’. The feature covered kinetic sculpture and had an amazing selection of top sculptors including David Harber and also Angela Conner, who Thomas worked freelance with for a time after graduating.
