Starting as a experiment in material, I wanted to try and make a sculpture similar in form to the Apollo designs I had been making at this time, but using copper bar. I normally work to a very calculated cutting list and measurements to make these designs, however this form developed more naturally and resulted in quite a different but enjoyable shape.
I tried out a new material combination for the finish of this as well, using gold leaf on one side of the form, which I found to be an incredibly warm and pleasing finish. This sculpture was displayed and sold at Katherine Pooley’s renown boutique shop in Knightsbridge London.
Due to various difficulties in the fabrication of this design using copper, I would not repeat the sculpture again, so it is totally unique. I would be happy to entertain any inquiries about making the same form in a different material and larger scale.
