Following a commission that required only part of a sheet of bronze, I later had the remaining sheet guillotined and planned on making a bronze version of the Apollo design. However after starting the fabrication, it became evident there wasn’t quite enough material to make this design as desired. So as I was welding the strip of bronze together, I started to manipulate the form as much as possible, with the intent of still achieving a shape as close to Apollo as possible. The resulting form was similar, but also quite different and turned out to be an extremely enjoyable sculpture.
Although quite a substantially sized bronze, at 90cm. The movement in the form implies a real weightlessness and motion of flight.
